If you already have a career that you enjoy, training and developing new knowledge to better serve patients is something you already know.

Réseau Santé Nouvelle-Écosse has developed for you – students, health professionals, health care facility manager, volunteers – this training platform.

Our goal: you provide the tools to recognize, understand and better serve the Francophone and Acadian patients that you meet daily.

Patient safety, language and active offer

Serving patients in their native language is part of providing patient-centred care and shows respect for the culture, well-being, history that the patient needs. Health professionals and patients must be able to understand each other easily, otherwise, uncertainty and misunderstanding can have serious repercussions such as misdiagnosis or inappropriate treatment.
With the “Patient safety, language and active offer” module, learn how to recognize an Acadian or a Francophone and how to make a real difference through active offer and the associated tools.

Interdisciplinary module

This one hour workshop provides Health Professionals and Students with a learning opportunity on the importance of the ‘Active Offer’ of French language services and its relevance to patient safety from an interprofessional lens.

Facilitators have different case studies in which to chose from in order to best meet the needs of the group in attendance, such as acute care, long term care, or care of children and families.
